Trying to avoid repeating mistakes of the past.
I learned my lesson the hard way last time: when your employer starts having trouble paying you on time, don't wait around until they stop completely to find another job.
So, I'm working on getting my résumé updated.
It's not ready for prime time, and I'm probably going to get rid of the "long version", but if anybody would care to critique it, I'm open to suggestions.
Once I get that finished, I'm going to duplicate it on monster.com. Anybody have any other job site recommendations?
...I'm really not looking forward to this...

Since then, have been slacking off while telecommuting.
on an as needed basis
as-needed should be hyphenated because it is in an adjectival, not adverbial, phrase. TMI, I know.
Use some cell padding for your experience chart -- it runs together over here. <table cellpadding=5> should do the trick. Always knew you'd need a padded cell.
Actually, the bottom is looking pretty run-together, too, especially where the italic heading is 2 lines and its description is only 1 line (I see UF Student / Government and Programming / Languages, but both of those categories fits on one line.)
HTML, PHP Perl, Pascal,
Insert a comma after PHP.
Scheme/LISP
Why not separate these with a comma? Just because there are two languages whose inventors probably have a bumper sticker that says My other car is a cdr doesn't mean they're the same language.

Hrm. Yes, that is awkward. Any suggestions on how to rephrase it?
"Telecommuted 3 to 5 days a week until relocation closer to company headquarters." Still awkward...
Nope, makes sense. Fixed.
Actually I ended up using cellspacing=7. cellpadding=5 spaced it out to the point where I looked like a high schooler trying to make a 10 page paper out of 8 pages of work... ;)
Ah, good suggestion. I changed the layout on that a bit to avoid wrapping. Instead of trying to squeeze the labels into the left margin, I gave them their own line. Looks better?
Fixed.
I'm sure I had a reason once upon a time, but I have no idea what it is now. So I just added a comma.
*snicker*
Thanks for the help.

i like the way you laid out the skills section.
I wish I could take a bow, but I stole the idea from monster.com. Though, I can take credit for writing the code using absolute dates, and dynamically computing the number of years for the output. ;)
i found that job hunting was always a good way to relieve stress. either i found a better job and was able to blow off the stress of one situation or i gained new appreciation for the job i already had.
Actually, that's sort of how I'm viewing this right now, too. Basically just setting up a Plan B, so I won't be caught off guard if I need it. I still haven't decided if I'm going to proactively send this out anywhere, or just leave it floating around a few job sites, and see if anything nibbles.
Of course, having certain awesome friends see it and send it to people they know for me is kinda cool, too. ;)
