ximinez: (Baby)

The problem with getting on a good rant is that you tend to neglect your points. I covered fish and hurricanes, but the narrative got away from me, and I neglected the baby. Wait, that doesn't sound right. Of course, at 2 1/2, she's not a baby either. So, the toddler:

Summary: she's fine, but I'm going to kill her.

Saturday night, more or less the worst part of the storm, we were getting Anna ready for bed. The routine consists of bath, pajamas, books, lullaby, bed. More or less. Sometimes she showers with Mommy. All it takes is a second... Mommy was getting the water temp right, and I had gotten her undressed. Anna hopped into the shower... literally. I suspect, however, that it will be the last time she hops into the shower, because when she hit the slippery tiles, her feet went right out from under her and she smashed her head against the shower door track.

It was not a fun evening.

She got a nice, big welt on the back of her head, and a very intimidating looking gash to match it. Fortunately, no signs of concussion or other trauma, though we'll probably get her to her regular doctor in the next few days, just in case. And thank goodness it wasn't higher up on the scalp where the slightest cut bleeds like a faucet. I don't think L could have handled it....

So, does it make my a bad father when my first thoughts are "If she's ok, I'm going to kill her." and "Please, dear G-d, don't make me drive to the emergency room though this."? Just curious.

judging from the number of self-inflicted wounds this child has managed, i think you're forgiven for the thought.
