Computer users already anxious about viruses and identity theft have a new reason to worry: hackers have found a way to lock up the electronic documents on your computer and then demand $200 (about R1 200) over the Internet to get them back.

Authorities said Milagro Cunningham, 17, confessed and was charged with attempted murder, sexual battery on a child under 12, and false imprisonment of a victim under 13, police said.
The girl told investigators that ''M.J. [Cunningham] did it,'' according to an arrest report. ``He raped me, choked me and threw me in the dumpster. He threw rocks on me and tried to kill me.''
